Planning an event?

The Event Permit Application Form has been developed in partnership with multiple departments across Council to ensure you are provided with accurate and relevant information in the one form. As the event organiser, it is your responsibility to ensure that all required permits are obtained with the relevant departments here at Council and any relevant legislation is complied with. Use of Public Parks

Council does not hire out or require a formal booking of local parks for private functions such as birthday parties etc. 

Use of Public open space areas are permitted provided public access is maintained.  No part of these areas are available for exclusive use.

Sporting Grounds  

Council’s Recreation team manages use of active sporting precincts (ovals, soccer grounds etc.).  Active sporting precincts will not be made available for public or community events.

Community Events are only considered where activities do not impact on the sporting reserve.

Community Events

Council has one location, Hannah Watts Park, where community events are permitted pending approval of an Event Application. 

Enquiries should be made as to availability of these areas prior to completing an Event application form.

All event organisers, conducting events within the City of Melton, are obliged to comply with its local laws. Please review the Local Laws for more information.  

Event organisers planning events on private land are not required to submit the Event Permit Application Form. However, depending on the nature and planned activities and the expected attendance at the event, other permits may still be required.
