Please note:
Melton Cemetery has no burial sites left for the community who require a burial site for a recently deceased loved one.

More than 300 burial plots that have been pre-purchased remain, along with over 100 ashes interment sites, however burial plots will cease to be available at Melton Cemetery once the remaining sites are used.

The Greater Metropolitan Cemetery Trust (GMCT) is in the process of developing a Master Plan for the Harkness Road Cemetery development. The 128-hectare site will be the largest cemetery developed in Melbourne for more than 100 years and will provide our local community with a number of interment options. Timelines for the first stage opening of the new Harkness Cemetery is not yet determined.

Until the Harkness Cemetery opens, community members who require a burial plot can explore availability at other cemeteries, as detailed below.
