Waste education
Council's waste education program is focused on engaging with the community through a range of events, programs and partnerships to influence positive waste and recycling behaviours.
Workshops for schools and early learning centres
Local schools, kindergartens and early learning centres can access a range of free learning opportunities to support our community in managing waste responsibly and living more sustainably. Programs are catered for both students and educators, providing a holistic approach to community waste education.
School waste education program - Recycling Rules!
The Recycling Rules! school incursion program is designed for both primary and secondary schools. The content helps students understand:
- The consequences of sending waste to landfill
- The importance of recycling correctly
- What materials can be recycled at home and school
- How the recycling process works
This engaging 45-minute session is delivered by an experienced Educator from EnviroCom, experts in environmental sustainability, and includes time for student questions. It aligns with the Australian National Curriculum and complements existing classroom units or school sustainability programs.
By focusing on this challenge, we aim to empower students with the knowledge to make a real difference.
