Bridge Road Community Hub

The Bridge Road Active Open Space Masterplan provides a vision for additional facilities at the reserve to support team sports and informal recreation for the community.

New facilities include an oval for AFL football and cricket, tennis courts, cricket practice nets, additional hockey field, netball court, visitor and player amenities, tree planting and landscape improvements. 

The project will be delivered by a staged approach and will provide benefits to the community and local sporting groups with a project budget of $15.25 million.

Stage 3

Works to deliver the Stage 3 of the Bridge Road Community Hub at 132 Bridge Road, Strathtulloh commenced late 2025.

The project is part way thru the conceptual stages, with a CHMP application underway and will progress to approvals through late stages of 2025.

Site investigations and design have rapidly progressed on-site to the next stages of the Master planned sporting precinct.

Works include the construction of a:

  • Design of the Additional Hockey pitch with players shelters, sports lighting and protection fencing.
  • Design of Tennis Courts court with.
  • Design of Tennis Pavilion community / meeting room, changerooms for netball and football, umpires’ room and views to the oval.
  • Design of additional carparking bays to the east of the newly completed Oval from Stage 2
  • Landscaping and new pathways.

The project delivered the next stage of facilities as outlined in the Bridge Road Active Open Space Masterplan.

James Miller Architects Pty Ltd has been engaged as the lead design consultant to deliver the project in conjunction with Council.

Funding partners

Melton City Council is funding this project.

Stage 2

Works to deliver Stage 2 of the Bridge Road Community Hub at 132 Bridge Road, Strathtulloh commenced in late 2024.

Stage 2 works are now complete and include:

  • New sporting pavilion with a kitchen, community/meeting room, changerooms for netball and football, umpires room and views to the oval
    • AFL / cricket oval with players shelters, sports ground lighting, synthetic cricket wicket and ball protection fencing
    • Netball court with players shelters and sports field lighting 
    • Two cricket training nets
    • Two carparks with 58 additional carparking bays, new eastern and western carpark and connection to Azadi Crescent 
    • Landscaping and new pathways 
    • Picnic shelter 

The oval will remain closed to allow the natural turf to establish prior to opening in Spring 2025.

The carparks, netball courts and cricket nets are all open for public use.

The pavilion will be available shortly via Council’s Recreation Team for operations.

This part of the project has been constructed by SJ Higgins Pty Ltd with K20 AU Pty Ltd the head consultant engaged to deliver the project.

Funding partners 

Melton City Council is funding this project along with external funding through the Growing Suburbs Fund ($800,000) and Local Sport Infrastructure Fund (Community Support Fund) ($250,000).
