Active transport

Active transport options like walking and cycling can benefit our physical and mental health, reduce traffic, and help protect the environment through the reduction of greenhouse gases.

Below is information on some of Melton City Council’s initiatives for creating safe pathways, improving cycling infrastructure, and supporting sustainable travel.

Kororoit Creek

The Kororoit Creek active transport network is a vital connection for pedestrians and cyclists within the City of Melton. Kororoit Creek flows from the Macedon Ranges in the north, through the heart of Melton and across to Brimbank in the east. It passes through or borders eleven suburbs in the City of Melton.

There is significant walking and cycling paths along Kororoit Creek in our established areas, with future pedestrian bridges over the creek, connections along the creek and to the local path network identified through Council’s Pedestrian and Cyclist Plan (PACP) for Council to deliver in those areas.

In growth areas, Council will continue to work with developers who will deliver and fund the remaining walking and cycling network from the Melton Highway to our existing path networks.
