Walk for Inclusion and Respect

Melton City Council is pleased to invite local community members to join us for the Walk for Inclusion and Respect, a community event celebrating diversity, promoting unity, and taking a stand against gender-based violence and all forms of discrimination.

Walk starting point: Hannah Watts Park, 183 High Street, Melton
Community Celebration: Melton Town Centre Amphitheatre, Palmerston Street, Melton

This event brings together two important days of significance: 

• International Day of People with Disability (3 December) 
• 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (25 November - 10 December) 

By combining these powerful movements, we celebrate inclusion and respect while highlighting the importance of addressing gender inequality and ableism, and how women and gender diverse people with disability have greater risk of experiencing social exclusion and violence.

Event Schedule

• 9.30am – Community Walk begins at Hannah Watts Park with Welcome to Country by Wurundjeri Elder, Aunty Julianne Axford 
• 10.30am – Community celebration at Melton Town Centre Amphitheatre 
• Mayoral address and keynote speech 
• Performances showcasing the talents of local people with disability  
• Free BBQ and coffee 
• Auslan interpreter in attendance 
    

Event concludes at approximately 12pm. 

BOOKINGS
No bookings are required!  Everyone is welcome!  Simply join the group at the starting point of the walk at Hannah Watts Park at 9.30am.

What to bring
Comfortable shoes, a hat, water bottle and a positive spirit of inclusion and respect.

Come together to celebrate our community’s diversity and take a collective step toward a safer, more inclusive Melton for all.
