Feedback sought on Truganina intersection works
Published on 19 November 2025
Residents are invited to provide feedback on the traffic management plan for the temporary closure of the Boundary Road, Troups Road South, and Davis Road intersection in Truganina, to enable construction of a new roundabout.
To facilitate the works, the intersection will be closed for three weeks from early January 2026, reopening in time for the start of the school term on 28 January 2026 (subject to weather).
Detours will be in place via Dohertys Road, Hopkins Road and Mount Cottrell Road. Additional alternative routes are also available, and commuters are encouraged to plan ahead.
The new roundabout will replace the existing four-way intersection to improve traffic flow and enhance safety by reducing vehicle speeds and lowering the risk of collisions.
Key features of the upgrade include:
- Raised platforms at all approaches, tactile line marking, improved signage and safety barriers
- Public lighting to improve visibility and safety
- New road pavement and a reduced speed limit of 60 km/h
- Drainage improvements
Community members are encouraged to review the traffic management arrangements and provide feedback by Tuesday 2 December 2025 via the City of Melton Conversations page.
Quotes attributable to City of Melton Mayor Cr Lara Carli:
“As our community grows, we need to make sure our roads are upgraded to a standard that is safe for our residents.”
“The temporary closure of the intersection while the roundabout is constructed is considered to be the safest and most efficient option for road users and construction workers, and we have timed it to take advantage of the lower traffic volumes during the school holidays.”
“We understand any works like this can be disruptive and cause some inconvenience for residents, and we want to give them the opportunity to review the traffic management plan and provide us with feedback on anything that may not have been considered.”
