Melton City Council is upgrading the Becca Way Car Park.

This includes extensions and improvements to the north and south car parks, new and upgraded pavements, kerb and channel renewal, drainage upgrades, and associated footpath and line marking. In addition, we will be installing raised pavements at carpark entrances to improve safety for pedestrians.

Works will take place from Monday 5 January 2026 until Tuesday 27 January 2026.

Sections of the north and south carparks will be closed progressively with access to Springside Primary School and Springside Kindergarten maintained at all times, traffic controllers will assist parents and staff.

FAQs

Why are these works being completed?

Becca Way is undergoing upgrade works to improve parking capacity, pedestrian safety, pavement condition and stormwater drainage performance. These works will extend the service life of the road and carparks and improve safety for school and kindergarten users.

Why are there raised pavements and ramps being installed?

Raised pavements improve pedestrian safety, slow traffic, and enhance visibility at crossing points near the school and carparks. These improvements were identified during Council’s traffic and safety assessment.

Will access to the school or kindergarten be affected?

Access to Springside Primary School and Springside Kindergarten will be maintained at all times. Traffic controllers will assist parents and staff during drop-off and pick-up times. Some carpark areas may be temporarily closed while works are undertaken, but alternative access will be provided.

Will parking be restricted during the works?

Sections of the north and south carparks will be closed progressively to allow kerb, drainage and pavement works. Signage and traffic controllers will guide drivers to available parking areas.

Access may be restricted for short periods during excavation, kerb pours, asphalt works and line marking. Construction will be staged. Each section may be closed for several days during excavation, kerb installation, curing times, asphalt works and line marking. We will re-open each area as soon as it is safe.

When will the works occur?

Works will take place between Monday 5 January and 27 January 2026, Monday to Friday from 7am – 5pm each day.

Will there be any disruptions to residents?

Residents may experience noise, temporary traffic changes, and short-term access restrictions while kerb, drainage, pavement, footpath and asphalt works are performed.
