We have some amazing artists lined up for Spring School Holidays online activities.

These programs will be taking place on either Zoom or the Imagine Melton Arts and Culture Facebook page.  For Programs on Zoom you will be emailed a link 24 hours prior to the program commencing.

Pie with my Little Eye

Monday 21 & 28 September • 11am – 11.30am • Zoom

Liz Skitch’s live online children’s show is created especially for toddlers and their carers. Join for sing songs, go on adventures, swim in oceans of jelly and eat bucket loads of imaginary ice cream! Simply play along.

Suitable for ages 0-5 years.

Draw a Vegetable Character

Event: Draw a Vegetable Character, by Grace Fraraccio

About: Grace Fraraccio, the artist behind our current online exhibition Vegetable Soup and Friends will guide you to observe everyday food items, and turn then into imaginary characters!

What you will need: This fun drawing workshop will require pencils, markers, paper and a selection of veggies from the fridge.

Natural Ink Making Workshop

Wednesday 23 September • 11am • Facebook - Imagine Melton Arts and Culture Facebook page.

Learn to make how to create easy peasy but very beautiful natural ink at home using ingredients from your kitchen and garden, with Chaco Kato ! Children and adults can work together to use spices such as turmeric, paprika and also vegetables such as spinach and beetroot to make paint!

Suitable for ages 4-10 years.

Materials needed: Spinach or green leaf, carrots, spices, beetroot or frozen berries, strainer , spoon/ fork or grinder (if you have one), paper, small plates, cups or containers, corn flour or plain flour,  milk, egg, brushes.

Food Juggling Tutorial with Amazing Anso

Thursday 24 September • 4pm – 5pm • Zoom

Learn to juggle like a pro using fruit and veggies from your kitchen, with support from a real circus coach! Amazing Anso will show you both basics and more challenging tricks if you’re brave. This workshop suitable for all skill levels, with one on one support during the session.

Suitable for ages 8–18 years.

Materials needed: Please have 6 round whole fruit or vegetables available for juggling practice!

Make a Pizza Shop Playset

Tuesday 29 September • 11am • Facebook - Imagine Melton Arts and Culture Facebook page.

Craft-based designer Kitiya Palaskas will show you how to use old boxes, coloured paper and other supplies to create your very own pizza delivery shop!

Suitable for ages 5-12 years.

Materials from home: cardboard from old boxes, coloured paper, coloured tissue paper, glue

Bush toy making workshop

Thursday 1 October • 2pm - 3.30pm • Zoom

Work with Taungurung artist Cassie Leatham to create bush animal toys from nature and recycled materials.  Cassie will step you through how to make Australian animals while yarning about Aboriginal stories of creation.  Parental supervision required for this workshop.

Cassie Leatham is from Taungurung people from the Kulin Nation.  She is an Indigenous artist, master weaver, traditional dancer, bushtukka woman and educator.  She is extremely passionate about teaching her skills to both Indigenous and non-Indigenous students of all ages.  Her aim is to give participants the opportunity to learn and understand Aboriginal culture and develop knowledge of both historical and contemporary Aboriginal history.

Suitable for ages 5-12 years.

Materials needed: please have at least three of the following - wool, string, newspaper, shredded paper, hay, gum nuts, leaves, sticks, feathers, banksia pods, shells, long grass (in particular Poa Grass if available).
