Use this guide to help you recycle and dispose of waste correctly.

Dry and unwaxed cardboard

Recycling bin (yellow lid)

Drop-off: Free drop off at the Melton Recycling Facility as cardboard.

Wet or wax coated cardboard

General waste bin (red lid): Bag and place in your bin.

Hard waste collection (cardboard must be flattened and tied): If you receive a Council kerbside waste collection service, including both tenants and owners, you can access waste entitlements including hard waste collections. To book your hard waste collection, visit our Hard waste webpage

Reuse: If still in good condition, donate to the Resale Shop at the Melton Recycling Facility

General waste bin (red lid): Bag and place CDs (disks) in the general waste bin.

General waste bin (red lid): Bag and place in your bin.

Unbroken ceramics 

Reuse: If still in good condition, donate to the Resale Shop at the Melton Recycling Facility

Broken ceramics 

General waste bin (red lid): Bag and place broken ceramics in your bin. 

Hard waste collection (crockery only, safely wrapped, and labelled, then boxed or bagged): If you receive a Council kerbside waste collection service, including both tenants and owners, you can access waste entitlements including hard waste collections. Drop off: Register for a Detox Your Home event near you to dispose of chemicals for free.  

Tip: Never place chemicals in your kerbside bins. 

Tinsel, tree ornaments and plastic trees 

Reuse: If still in good condition, donate to the Resale Shop at the Melton Recycling Facility

General waste bin (red lid): Bag and place in your bin. 

Lights and electronics 

Drop-off: Free drop off at the Melton Recycling Facility as E-waste
