Communications Infrastructure Policy Framework
The City of Melton Communications Infrastructure Policy Framework(PDF, 1MB) was adopted by Council on 18 December 2017.
The Framework provides guidance on the preferred location and design of communications infrastructure in Melton. It outlines the matters Council considers when assessing planning applications. Any Council policy relating to communications infrastructure must align with relevant legislation.
The Framework helps provide clear direction to Council officers, the community and applicants (including telecommunications carriers) about how applications will be assessed.
Important update
Since the Framework was adopted in 2017, changes have been made to Clause 52.19 of the Melton Planning Scheme through Amendment VC226.
These changes affect the types of telecommunication facilities that are exempt from requiring a planning permit, among other updates.
When seeking advice about telecommunications requirements, applicants should refer to Clause 52.19 of the Melton Planning Scheme, as this takes precedence over Section 2.1.3 of the Communications Infrastructure Policy Framework.
