Council will host a range of family friendly events and activities across the City in recognition of NAIDOC Week, which will be held from 5-12 July 2026.

NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories.

Children can enjoy a hands-on art workshop, led by a First Nations artist where they will contribute to a group art project at Fraser Rise Children's and Community Centre on Wednesday 1 July.

A special 'Indigenous Experience', led by Didgeridoo Australia at Weir Views Children's & Community Centre on Wednesday 8 July from 10am, will introduce children to the heritage and culture of Australia First Peoples through song, dance and story.

Adults can immerse themselves in indigenous culture at a special panel talk, chaired by First Nations author, Claire Coleman and joined by an indigenous singer songwriter, a journalist and a novelist. The panel is at Melton Library and Learning Hub on Tuesday 2 July from 1pm - 2.30pm.
