Melton City Council is inviting the community to come together this National Reconciliation Week to reflect, learn and deepen collective understanding of First Nations peoples.

To mark National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June), Council will host a free community event celebrating shared histories, cultures and traditions, while raising awareness of reconciliation and showing support for local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

The event will be held on Wednesday 3 June from 10am to 12pm at the Civic Centre Lawn and Melton Community Hall (232 High Street, Melton).

Attendees will hear from keynote speaker Tyson Yunkaporta, acclaimed author, researcher and senior lecturer in Indigenous Knowledges at Deakin University. The program will also feature a flag raising ceremony, a First Nations performance, native food tastings and more.
