Accessible public facilities
Using a toilet is a basic human right that most people take for granted. For many people with profound disability leaving their home can often mean planning trips around their need to use a toilet and being able to access a toilet equipped with a hoist and change table.
Changing places
Changing Places toilets are larger than standard accessible toilets which provide people with disability and high support needs access to suitable, safe, and private bathroom facilities.
The City of Melton has Changing Places Facilities at:
- Caroline Springs Leisure Centre, 9 The Parade, Caroline Springs
- Cobblebank Indoor Stadium, 206 Ferris Road, Cobblebank
- Melton Library and Learning Hub, 31 McKenzie Street, Melton
- Melton Waves Leisure Centre, 206 Coburns Road, Melton
We encourage trained carers who plan to use the facility to follow standard OHS practices and remember to bring along the person's own sling.
The Changing Places website can show you other facilities around the country.
MLAK Key
The Master Locksmiths Access Key (MLAK) provides 24/7 access to accessible public facilities
The MLAK system is an initiative of the Master Locksmiths Association, designed to provide people with disability access to a range of public facilities.
This includes access to:
- Facilities in National Parks and many Councils municipalities
- Locked accessible public toilets
- Elevators at railway stations
- Liberty Swings and other accessible equipment
- Changing Places facilities across Australia
People with disability can purchase a MLAK key that unlocks any facility fitted with a MLAK cylinder.
Order your MLAK from Master Locksmiths Association of Australia.
