The City of Melton is leading the state in measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccinations, helping protect the health of our growing community.

Supported by the Western Public Health Unit, Melton City Council’s immunisation program is offering free catch-up MMR vaccinations to adults aged 20–59 years who may not be fully protected.

Western Public Health Unit reports that up to half of people in Melbourne’s western suburbs lack evidence of two doses on the Australian Immunisation Register. The program responds to gaps in past immunisation schedules in Australia and overseas, where two doses of the vaccine may not have been standard.

With measles cases recently on the rise across Victoria, this program plays an important role in reducing the risk of illness and limiting the spread within our community.

Adults born in Australia and overseas are encouraged to check their immunisation records and consider a free catch-up MMR vaccination at one of Council’s regular community immunisation sessions if needed. People who travel internationally, people from migrant communities, and First Nations peoples may be at higher risk of infection. The free vaccine is available until 30 September 2026.

Council also offers all funded vaccines under the National Immunisation Program which are delivered by qualified Registered Immunisation Nurses. Daytime and evening sessions are held at various locations around the City of Melton.
