COVID-19 rates hardship support

We understand that some people in our community are facing financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 crisis, and this is something Council has taken into account in considering rates payments.

If you are experiencing financial hardship, you can apply for a weekly, fortnightly or monthly payment plan to help spread the payment of your rates.

If you currently have a payment plan with us but now need to make changes, you can apply for a new payment arrangement.

Those who have a current Personal Centrelink Reference number and receive a current welfare payment will be eligible to apply. Alternative evidence of financial hardship will also be considered.

Please note in cases of extreme financial hardship we will consider a short-term deferral of your rates.

COVID-19 Financial Assistance (Rates & Charges) Policy

Council recently implemented COVID-19 Financial Assistance (Rates & Charges) Policy(PDF, 43KB) , which provides options to people experiencing financial difficulty due to COVID-19 impacts.

Whether you are a residential or a business ratepayer, this policy can support you with payment plans, payment deferrals, and waivers of penalty interest.
