Catch-a-Carp Day

Next date: Saturday, 24 October 2026 | 10:00 AM to 02:00 PM

Navan Lake Catch a Carp

To commemorate National Water Week, Melton City Council, in partnership with NatureWest, is excited to present Catch-a-Carp Day at Navan Park Lake.

Help protect our waterways by removing this invasive species and enjoy a great day outdoors with a free fishing day for families and community.

Register for Catch-a-Carp Day

The event is suitable for beginners, with volunteers on site to help with fishing instruction, baiting hooks and carp handling. Plus:

  • Learn how to fish or brush up on your skills with presentations throughout the day from Happy Fisherman.
  • Fishing rods available for hire
  • Competition with fantastic prizes from My Mates Outdoors
  • Free BBQ supplied by Greening Melton-Bacchus Inc.
  • Native Fish Hatchery display tanks
  • Face painting and coffee
  • Education stalls from Melbourne Water, Eynesbury Environment Group, Djerriwarrh Creek Community Group, FishCare, VR Fish, Victorian Fisheries Authority, NatureWest and Melton City Council.
  • Visit the Melbourne Water info tent and trade your old illegal opera house nets for a free wildlife safe net.

Please note the carpark has limited spaces, and once full, traffic will be unable to enter via Centenary Ave. We therefore recommend parking on the south side of Centenary Ave. There are toilets and water fountains on site.

Registration info

Attendees are encouraged to pre-register for the event as numbers will be capped for safety. All attendees must report to the registration tent upon arrival to receive a wrist band.
