New Diggers Rest Children’s and Community Centre receives funding
Published on 20 August 2026
Melton City Council has welcomed $9 million in funding from the Victorian Government to help deliver the new Diggers Rest Children’s and Community Centre.
The funding was announced by Member for Sunbury Josh Bull MP during a recent visit to the future site of the centre and has been provided through the Victorian Government’s Building Blocks Partnerships Fund.
The purpose-built facility is set to become a vibrant community hub, providing local families with access to essential early years services and new opportunities to learn, connect and participate in community life.
The centre will feature kindergarten facilities and Maternal and Child Health services, supporting children and families through the critical early years of development.
It will also include a Library Lounge, the first of its kind in the City of Melton, extending Council’s library services into the heart of the growing Diggers Rest community and creating a welcoming space for residents to read, learn and connect.
Construction is expected to begin in late 2026 with the centre anticipated to open in early 2028.
