Innovative playspace recognised among Victoria’s best

A standout playspace in Caroline Springs has claimed top honours at the Parks and Leisure VIC/TAS 2026 Awards of Excellence.
Melton City Council's Cobblestone Green Reserve Playspace was recognised for its outstanding design and community impact, winning the Play Spaces (Under $1 Million) category.
The award recognises play spaces that create a strong sense of place for the local community while showcasing innovative landscape and structural design that inspires play, supports and childhood development.
Recently upgraded by Council, the Cobblestone Green Reserve Playspace draws inspiration from the character of the local Volcanic Plains Grassland, incorporating basalt rock formations and native grasses to create a unique and authentic landscape experience.
Moving beyond traditional playground equipment, the playspace features custom-designed play elements, layered rock terraces and child-scaled structures that encourage exploration, physical activity and imaginative play. Carefully integrated planting creates an immersive environment that invites children to connect with nature while they play.
The award-winning design complements the existing reserve and facilities, creating a welcoming destination for families. Accessible pathways and thoughtfully placed seating enable parents and carers to stay connected and engaged, supporting inclusive play and shared community experiences.
The recognition secures Cobblestone Green Reserve its place as a finalist in the National Awards of Excellence, which will be held in December.
