Have your say on new retail precinct for Kurunjang
Published on 03 November 2025
Residents are invited to have their say on a draft Urban Design Framework (UDF) which will help guide the development and use of land for a new supermarket and commercial centre in Kurunjang.
Melton City Council has been working closely with the landowners to progress the Draft Kurunjang Neighbourhood Activity Centre UDF which opens for community consultation from today.
The proposed plan outlines a vision for a supermarket, supporting shops, a town centre plaza, a medical centre, childcare, a community centre, and land for new homes in the future.
The UDF is a requirement of the Melton North Precinct Structure Plan and will guide the future development of the Neighbourhood Activity Centre and provide Council with direction for assessing and considering future development proposals.
Feedback is invited until Monday 1 December 2025.The draft UDF can be viewed online, and feedback submitted via a short survey at conversations.melton.vic.gov.au.
Following the consultation period, Council will review feedback and make any required amendments to the UDF before it is presented at a future Council Meeting for consideration.
Quotes attributable to City of Melton Mayor Cr Steve Abboushi:
“Kurunjang and Harkness have seen significant residential development and population growth over the past 15 years, resulting in demand for a local retail and service offering."
“It is important we hear from residents, particularly those living in the Kurunjang and Harkness areas, about what they think of the draft UDF to ensure the proposal meets the needs and expectations of the community."
“I encourage residents to take the opportunity to review the draft UDF during the consultation period and let us know your thoughts and what you would like to see in your future Neighbourhood Activity Centre.”
