Taylors Road Corridor Upgrade Plan
The Taylors Road corridor is a vital east-west link within the City of Melton.
This key thoroughfare currently services the established areas of Caroline Springs, Burnside Heights, and Taylors Hill, as well as rapidly expanding communities like Aintree, Bonnie Brook, Fraser Rise, and Deanside.
There are a number of projects that constitute the Taylors Road Corridor Upgrade Plan. Please see below for more details on each project.
Projects on this page:
Project: Plumpton Road and Taylors Road Intersection
Council will transform the existing T-intersection into a four-way intersection, with traffic lights.
Project schedule starts late 2024 with expected completion mid 2026.
Key features
Update
As part of planned works for the energisation process for the traffic lights, a number of unforeseen underground service issues were identified, which required further investigations, authority approvals and additional construction work.
The works to address these issues have commenced and are anticipated to be completed in early March.
Once the additional works are completed and the powerlines have been placed underground, the energisation process can recommence, including meeting the audit requirements for the new traffic signals to be switched on.
Currently, the traffic signals are expected to be energised in mid-2026, and we will continue to explore all opportunities to bring these timelines forward.
Temporary roundabout
Given the extended time required for these works and the energisation process, and to improve traffic flow and allow right turn movements from Plumpton Road, we have installed a temporary roundabout at the intersection. A 40km speed limit with one lane in each direction with temporary barriers until the traffic lights can be energised in mid-2026.
