Station Road and Richard Road, Melton South

  • Project scheduleConstruction is expected to commence June 2026

Melton City Council is upgrading the intersection of Station Road and Richard Road, Melton South by adding a new signalised right turn lane into Richard Road.

The project will include a new right turn arrow signal to the traffic lights, adjust the signal phasing, and associated pavement marking works to provide a dedicated right turning lane.

We will make changes to the bike lane at the intersection and new signs will be installed to inform changed traffic conditions.  In addition, there will be the installation of a new streetlight on the west side of Station Road near the intersection to improve visability.

The installation of designated turning arrows should see a reduction in travel time and improve traffic flow for southbound vehicles.

The upgrade includes:

  • a dedicated right turn lane from Station Road to Richard Road and dedicated through lane for Station Road traffic
  • replacement of existing streetlights with modern LED luminaires
  • new right hand signal
  • connection of newly installed poles and streetlights to the electricity grid
  • connection of the newly installed right turn traffic signals to the power grid

Construction of this project is scheduled to commence in June 2026

The works are expected to take approximately one month, subject to favourable weather conditions and the availability of Powercor to energise the new signals.
