Making Community Infrastructure Happen

his week, Mayor Cr Steve Abboushi has been representing Victoria’s fast-growing communities, including the City of Melton, as part of the @Municipal Association of Victoria’s inaugural Victorian Mayoral Delegation to Canberra. 

This is a collaborative approach between Local and Federal Government to ensure national policies and investments are focussed on local priorities, deliver practical solutions, and strengthen the communities where people live.

The group has been meeting with Ministers, MPs and key decision makers to advocate for the issues that matter most to our residents:

• Community infrastructure
• Safer roads
• Fairer energy
• Resilient communities
• Local democracy

Cr Abboushi said: “From libraries and sports facilities to road and community hubs, the infrastructure we invest in today will define the liveability of our cities tomorrow. We need strong partnerships with all levels of government to meet the needs of our growing population and realise the full community benefit and record level investment in new housing.”
