Exford Road and Greigs Road Intersection Upgrade

  • Project scheduleConstruction expected to start in 2027

Project overview

A new roundabout will replace the existing T-intersection to improve traffic flow and enhance safety for all road users by reducing vehicle speeds and lowering the risk of collisions.

The bridges over Toolern Creek and the Werribee River will undergo strengthening and minor widening to allow vehicles to pass each other more safely on these bridges.

Key features of the project

  • A new roundabout at the intersection of Exford Road and Greigs Road
  • Upgrade of the bridges over Toolern Creek and the Werribee River
  • Installation of public lighting to increase visibility and enhance safety
  • Safety upgrades including tactile line marking, concrete lip on the roundabout to slow vehicles cutting across the centre and improved signage and safety barriers.
  • Drainage improvements
  • Relocation of services such as electricity, water and communications

The designs have been finalised, and Council will be tendering for the project in late 2026.

FAQs

How will this make the intersection safer?

The roundabout is designed to reduce vehicle speeds and lower the risk of collisions, particularly for turning movements. The project will widen the two bridges and realign approaches to improve visibility, particularly from Exford Road North.

We will install skid-resistant and tactile line markings, pavement arrows, signposts, new warning signs, rumble strips, and bridge width indicators.

We will reduce the speed limit to 60 km/h and upgrade all barriers with motorcycle protection rub rails, and close gaps in the barrier where possible.

When do we expect works to start?
