Your health and wellbeing
Council is committed to promoting health and wellbeing in our community.
Melton City Council is committed to promoting and enhancing the health and wellbeing of our community. Our approach considers the social model of health that recognises the importance of creating quality social, economic, built and natural environments for improved health and wellbeing. By creating health promoting environments, we are able to make better lifestyle choices which impacts on our long-term health and wellbeing.
Research tells us that our lifestyles have a direct influence on health and wellbeing over time. Rates of several preventable diseases such as Type 2 Diabetes are significantly high in the City of Melton. For example, many community members do not meet the recommended levels of physical activity and intake of fruit and vegetables. It is important for us to consider factors such as a healthy diet and regular exercise, not only to improve our physical health, but also our mental and social wellbeing.
