Sports Awards & Scholarships

Melton City Council is committed to providing positive opportunities for all people in the community. With many sports clubs in the municipality, residents have a broad range of sports to play and clubs to join. To recognise, celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of clubs and individuals, the below awards and scholarship are available.

Awards and scholarships are made available annually and presented at the City of Melton Sports Awards Night.

This year's awards and scholarships were open from Wednesday 12 June to Friday 12 July 2019.

Lydia Lassila Youth Sports Scholarship

The Lydia Lassila Youth Sports Scholarship aims to provide encouragement and support to a promising individual to progress their sporting career and cover costs such as event attendance, travel, accommodation, training/coaching fees, and equipment.

The Scholarship is made available annually and provides the winning applicant with up to $1,500.

Sports Club of the Year Award

The Sports Club of the Year Award aims to acknowledge excellence in club management and the important contribution that local sporting clubs make to the community. Nominations are based on achievements over the past year, from September 2018 to July 2019.

Club Volunteer Recognition Award

The Club Volunteer Recognition Awards aim to recognise and celebrate the contributions made by committed volunteers who shape, support and participate in our community sport and recreation clubs.

Each club can nominate one person for this Award.

City of Melton Sports Awards Night - Awards Presentation

Award and scholarship winners were announced at the City of Melton Sports Awards Night on Tuesday 10 September at WestWaters Hotel & Entertainment Complex.
