Illuminate Melton

Melton is lighting up after dark this April! April 7th, 8th and 9th to be more specific.

We’ve invited renowned Australian visual artist Carla O’Brien to install her small- and large-scale interactive neon installations at the Melton’s Clock Tower Amphitheatre and various locations along Bakery Square, Melton this April.

Carla O’Brien’s inspired neon installations will feature across three evenings:

  • Thursday and Friday 7 - 8 April at Melton Clock Tower Amphitheatre from 4:30pm - 9:00pm
  • Saturday 9 April at Melton Clock Tower Amphitheatre and Bakery Square, Melton from 6:00pm - 9:00pm

For one night only on Saturday 9 April, up to 32 neon installations will appear along with some highly entertaining activities for the whole family including:

  • Glow in the dark mini golf
  • LED Face painting
  • LED Glow Poi play space
  • Silent cinema featuring Chase and Friends as well as Trolls
  • LED Roving Hula Hoopers
  • A life size hot air balloon
  • Coffee Vendor Miss Mollys Cakes, Proffertjes from Melboune's Famous Poffertjes as well as all our local food businesses who will be open for trade during the event

So bring the family down grab a bite to eat and enjoy all the festivities we have planned for you and your family.

Illuminate Melton will feature so many fun and bright sights, smells, tastes and sounds! While that can be super fun, sometimes we all need a minute to disconnect or regroup our thoughts. If your visiting Illuminate Melton this Saturday and this sounds like you or someone you'll be attending with, we will have a Sensory-friendly Chillout Zone for you to visit.

You'll find the zone on Palmerston Street and our friendly Families & Children's team will be there to help, answer questions and provide some strategies and activities to ensure you or the ones you love are able to fully enjoy Illuminate Melton. We also have a social story(PDF, 1MB) created for you to share with friends and family.

This event aims to attract members of our community for a day or a night, exploring Melton’s Town Centre and Bakery Square. As part of revitalising this area, Council has been working with the local business community and warmly welcomes the broader community to come and experience what’s on offer at Melton Town Centre!
