Friday 7 June, 6pm to 8pm, Melton Library and Learning Hub

Join us to celebrate Pride Month with a film screening of 'Love, Simon.'

'Love, Simon' (2018) is a beloved coming of age movie based on the novel 'Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda' by author Becky Albertalli. Simon Spier keeps a huge secret from his family, his friends and all of his classmates: he's gay. When that secret is threatened, Simon must face everyone and come to terms with his identity.

Running time: 1 hour 50 minutes, rated M.

Pizza provided!

Pride Month Writing Workshop: Queer Spaces

Saturday 8 June, 2pm to 3.30pm, Melton Library and Learning Hub

Wednesday 26 June, 6pm to 7.30pm, Caroline Springs Library and Learning Hub

Express yourself through writing this Pride month and learn something new in our Queer Spaces writing workshop!

To celebrate the queer community this Pride Month, we will be partnering with local queer author Matt Richardson (he/they) for a workshop on writing queer voices in science fiction and fantasy.

Pride Month occurs annually in June to commemorate the diversity of the LGBTIQA+ community, identities and history.

Matt Richardson is queer speculative fiction author and editor based in Naarm (Melbourne), whose stories experiment with points of view and the lives of queer characters in traditional fantasy and science fiction settings.

Explore queer identities and how they play out in your writing, in a safe and celebratory space. You might even use what you learn to help develop your entry for the Melton City Libraries Short Story Competition!

Writing materials will be provided, or you can bring your own notebook, or device, including speech-to-text software.
