Vale Neville Smith

Melton City Council is saddened by the passing of former CEO, Neville Smith who lost his battle with cancer on Saturday morning.

Neville was a General Manager at Melton before being appointed as CEO in 2002 – a position he held until 2010 when he left to take on the CEO role at City of Moonee Valley.

Neville was a highly respected and admired leader in local government, with a quirky sense of humour and an outgoing personality.

Neville became and remained a close friend to many at Melton, and his passing is a great loss.

Council extends its sincere condolences to Neville’s wife, Leanne, and children Jordan and Blaire.

As a mark of respect, we will be flying the City of Melton flag at Melton Civic Centre and at Caroline Springs Library at half-mast on Friday, the day of Neville’s funeral.
