Some properties in the City of Melton have been impacted by tumbleweeds.
Our team has been out to take a look at the impacted areas on Wednesday 18 January day and a specialist vacuum truck is clearing the bulk of the tumbleweed material from private properties. We are also undertaking additional waste collection in affected areas and remove any road hazards. Affected residents can also drop off the tumbleweeds at Melton Recycling Facility for free. If tumbleweeds have impacted your property, you can contact us online via our Tumbleweed Enquiry form.
Residents may recall tumbleweed events that occurred in 2020 and 2021 where parts of Aintree, Eynesbury and Hillside were affected when dried weeds swept into yards and roads by strong winds.
A similar tumbleweed event has occurred in parts of the City of Melton.
The weeds that have caused this issue have come from larger private properties with substantial overgrowth and not from Council reserves.
Across Melbourne’s west, many landowners have been struggling to control weeds on their properties due to the recent rain.
