New playground coming to Harkness

Construction of a new playground, exercise station and picnic area in Harkness is about to begin and will be finished early next year.
City of Melton Mayor Cr Bob Turner and Member for Melton Steve McGhie marked the start of works at Marlo Reserve by turning the first sod on Monday.
The $880,000 development of the reserve is co-funded by Melton City Council and the Victorian Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund.
City of Melton Mayor Cr Bob Turner said the end result would be a space where neighbours could meet, play, and reconnect with nature.
“This project will help transform the reserve into an active space where residents can play and enjoy the outdoors with their families and friends,” Cr Turner said.
“Once complete, the development will encourage people in the Harkness neighbourhood to spend more time enjoying activities outside and will help improve health and wellbeing.
“It’s a great example of what can be achieved when Council and State Government work together.”
The Marlo Reserve development is expected to be complete around February 2020.
