Join the movement on Clean Up Australia Day

City of Melton residents are encouraged to help tidy our great outdoors on Sunday 3rd March for Clean Up Australia Day.
Now in its thirtieth year, this national event provides a great opportunity for people to help beautify and preserve their local natural spaces.
Cr Bob Turner, Mayor of the City of Melton, said he encouraged residents to put on some gloves and pick up a rubbish bag.
“Taking part in Clean Up Australia Day is not only a great way to help keep our local environment free of waste, but a good indicator of the types of rubbish that commonly find their way into our parks and waterways.”
“Helping out encourages us to think about how we can reduce the amount of waste we consume and produce, as well as improving our recycling habits.”
“Why not ask your family, friends and neighbours to come along, and spend a couple of hours keeping the environment free from harmful and unsightly litter”
“Local businesses and schools can also take part in the week before the community clean up, either around their place of work or study, or at another site that needs a bit of attention.”
Residents taking part in Clean Up Australia Day can participate by registering their site online, or attend a pre-registered site as a volunteer.
These events are coordinated by Clean Up Australia Day and supported by Council through scheduled waste collections after the event.
