A $2.84 million Building Better Regions Fund grant will help see the long-awaited Eynesbury Recreation Reserve realised.
Melton City Council was today awarded the significant grant by the Federal Government, and is pleased the first steps can be taken to construct the sporting facility to service the growing Eynesbury community.
The Building Better Regions Fund aims to assist in creating new infrastructure - or upgrading or extending existing infrastructure - that provides economic and social benefits to regional and remote areas.
Eynesbury Recreation Reserve will allow for a variety of active sport pursuits, provide recreational facilities, including an adventure playground, BBQ facilities and walking paths.
It is anticipated the reserve will be used as a training facility for the growing Eynesbury football club.
This is stage one of a two-stage project. Stage two will deliver an additional oval, extension to the pavilion and tennis courts.
Cr Turner said Council was working with the developer to ensure the project could be delivered as soon as possible.
Melton City Council has also applied to the State Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund in a bid to gain a further funding to help meet the overall cost of the reserve.
