Diggers Rest Preschool to receive much-needed upgrades

Diggers Rest Preschool will undergo much-needed renovations thanks to a $350,000 State Government grant.
The State Government yesterday announced it would be contributing the money as part of the 2018-19 Children’s Facilities Capital Program.
Melton City Council will contribute $979,000 to the project, which will see an extension to the existing learning space, and create more three- and four-year-old kindergarten places.
It is anticipated the project will be completed by late-2019.
Minister for Early Childhood Education Jenny Mikakos, and Member for Sunbury Josh Bull, joined City of Mayor Bob Turner, to announce the news.
Cr Turner said the refurbishments would create an additional 33 place room to cater for the growing number of both three-year-old and four-year-old Kindergarten children.
“The Diggers Rest Preschool will be extended in order to meet the service needs of children, families, young people, seniors, and culturally and linguistically diverse community members in Diggers Rest,” Cr Turner said.
“These renovations will help so many children get the best start to their education.
“We would like to thank the State Government for their $350,000 contribution, and I look forward to seeing the building finished by the end of next year.”
