Councillor Melissa De Santis resigned today from Melton City Council for personal reasons, effective immediately

City of Melton Mayor, Cr Bob Turner, acknowledged Cr De Santis for her time on Council and wished her all the very best.

“On behalf of Council, I would like to thank Melissa for the positive contribution she has made to the City of Melton community over the past two and a half years,” Cr Turner said.

“While on Council, she strongly advocated for improvement to public transport, access to education, and support for the homeless, young people, and family violence survivors.”

The Minister for Local Government and the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) have been notified of the extraordinary vacancy as required under the Local Government Act.

The VEC will conduct a countback to fill the vacancy in accordance with the Act. No date for the countback has been set.
