We are encouraging residents to help build a safer and stronger community by taking part in Community Safety Month events in October.

Community Safety Month covers a number of community safety issues, including personal safety and wellbeing, car safety and knowing first aid in case of an emergency.

Activities are free or low cost and bookings are essential. Follow the links for each event for location and booking details.

Accredited CPR and First Aid Course

Tuesday 4 and 18 October 

This one day comprehensive first aid training and CPR course is facilitated by accredited trainers from Results First Aid Training. During the 6 hours you will learn CPR and a range of first aid skills and receive an accredited certificate which is valid for 3 years from completion.

Self Defence Workshop

Friday 7 October 

Come along to our free Self Defence workshop and learn some basic techniques, build confidence and leave feeling empowered.

Neighbour Connect Day

Sunday 9 October –

Hosted by Neighbourhood Watch, this event aims to bring together local organisations, services and a variety of clubs and not-for-profit groups based in the local area. There will also be free activities for the whole family.

CARE Melton Expo

Friday 14 October 

Are you a senior, person with a disability or a carer? Visit the Virtual CARE Melton Expo. You can view information and resources from over 40 local organisations who support the needs of carers, people with disabilities and seniors at any time.

You can visit virtually anytime between Tuesday 11 to Friday 14 October 

Our in person Expo will be on Friday 14 October

More Than a License: An information session for supervising drivers

Thursday 13 October 

This session provides parents, guardians, friends and family members who are supervising a learner driver with practical information, tips and advice to help build their coaching skills.

Child Car Restraint Checks

Friday 14 and Tuesday 25 October 

Correctly fitted child car restraints and booster seats play a critical part in protecting children from serious injury and death in the event of a car accident. As part of the Children’s Week Family Fun Event Safe Seats, Safe Kids will be providing free child car restraint fittings and safety checks.

Flavour Fest

Saturday 22 October 

Come and see our emergency services who will be attending Flavour Fest. While you’re at it, enjoy some of the music, attractions and delicious food on offer!

Children’s Week Family Fun Event

Tuesday 25 and Thursday 27 October  

Enjoy hands on activities and meet local early childhood professionals and learn about how we can create a safe community for all children

Thursday 27 October: 3:30pm – 5:30pm at Caroline Springs Library and Learning Hub

Defence Driving Course

Wednesday 26 and Thursday  27 October 

Melbourne Defensive Driving provides techniques to increase safety with low risk driving, driving efficiency and situational awareness on busy roads. Learn how to expect and handle the unexpected, starting with vehicle safety checks through to understanding the physics of driving. A minimum of 90 hours must be completed if on your Learners Permit.

Age: For young people 17-25 years old.
