Celebrate the Christmas season at Carols by Candlelight

Published on 14 November 2019

Gather your loved ones and enjoy the spirit of Christmas at this year’s Carols by Candlelight, which will be held on Saturday 7 December.

City of Melton residents are invited to join in the festive cheer at the newly upgraded Hannah Watts Park.

The evening of free family entertainment will begin at 6.30pm and includes community performances from local schools, choirs and musicians, as well as some much-loved children’s entertainers.

Sing along with the Mik Maks, Lucca Franco, Lheon, Brenton Cosier and Mumma Julz who will be leading traditional and modern Christmas song-a-longs, along with a special appearance by Santa himself!

As the park is lit up by flame-free candles, children will enjoy face painting and bauble and gingerbread person decorating, and help from Santa’s roving elves to send a letter to the North Pole with their wishes for Christmas.

City of Melton Mayor Cr Lara Carli said the Carols by Candlelight event was a wonderful way for local residents to welcome the festive season.

“We’re delighted to have Carols by Candlelight back at Hannah Watts Park following upgrade works, which included the installation of a new children’s playground,” Cr Carli said.

“I warmly invite everyone to bring their best singing voices and join in the fun as we come together as a community to build the excitement for the Christmas season and the coming school holidays.”

Residents are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket and something to eat, and there will also be food vans available, including Mr Quick Whip, Spud Bros Spiral Spuds, Miss Molly’s Cupcakes, Kerbside Kravings and a sausage sizzle by the Melton Valley Rotary Club.

In the event of severe wet weather, Carols by Candlelight will be cancelled. Notification of any cancellation will be posted on Council’s website and Facebook page the morning of the event.
