CARE Melton Expo 2018

Published on 13 September 2018

Melton City Council is offering carers, older people and people with disabilities, the opportunity to learn about services on offer in the City of Melton.

As part of Carer’s Week, the Carers Access Resource Expo will be held on 18 October, between 10am and 2pm.

There will be 69 exhibitors at the event who deliver support services or resources to carers, people with a disability, or older people within the City.

City of Melton Mayor, Cr Bob Turner, said the event was an open invitation to those who might want additional support, or those struggling to find the right care in the City, particularly with the National Disability Insurance scheme (NDIS) commencing in Melton on 1 October 2018.

“The NDIS will open up opportunities for thousands of local residents with a significant and permanent disability, their families and carers,” Cr Turner said.

“For our older residents, there will be many aged care providers with information on how to support independence or care within the community.

“Come along, meet others, join in the relaxation workshops and have your questions answered; the day is all about exploring options to enhance your role or wellbeing.”

Some of the exhibitors include the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), the Brotherhood of St Laurence, the Office of Disability Services Commissioner, Australian Hearing Bus and Vision Australia.

The free event will feature relaxation workshops, including a complimentary yoga mat.
