Art flourishing in the City of Melton

Published on 06 September 2018

The Botanica art exhibition has been planted at CS Gallery and Melton Library, and will continue to flower until 11 October.

Botanica celebrates 15 years of the Friends of the Melton Botanic Garden.

The exhibition brings front and centre the new works of four local artists; Sandra Pelly, Katrina Fisicaro, Leianne Ivankovic and Noomi Hart.

Focusing on recent landscape and botanical works, it includes paintings inspired by our beloved Botanic Garden, as well as scenes from around the region.

The community is invited to celebrate these four local artists at the opening event on Friday 7 September, and join arts workshops running into October.

Four workshops for adults - and one for kids – will be hosted by the artists, who will teach techniques including drawing landscapes and painting Australian natives.

City of Melton Mayor, Cr Bob Turner, said the Friends of the Melton Botanic Garden have been an important part of the Melton community for more than a decade.

Botanica is a fabulous opportunity to celebrate the contribution of the Friends of the Melton Botanic Garden, as well as our native flora and fauna,” Cr Turner said.

“These four artists are incredibly talented, and have lit up our art spaces with their colourfully intricate art pieces.”
