MEDIA RELEASE - 21 October 2009
It is here again, the annual Djerriwarrh Festival, attracting thousands of visitors from Melton Shire and surrounding communities. It will be held on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 November 2009 in Melton.

Cr Renata Cugliari, Mayor of Melton Shire Council said that Council and the Djerriwarrh Festival Committee were very proud to present the 30th annual Djerriwarrh Festival.

“It promises to be a fantastic weekend of FREE fun and entertainment for all ages,” continued the Mayor.
 
THE MAIN STAGE (Civic Lawn, High Street) features:
 The Mr. Happy Show • Saturday 5pm
 Tim Freedman, lead singer of the Whitlams • Saturday 8pm
 Joe Camilleri & The Black Sorrows • Sunday 3pm

Melton Melodies
On Sunday, the Melton Melodies Program at the Main Stage will include Melton Melody Makers, Sunbury Divas and Mimi Veleveska & Trio, followed by Joe Camilleri & The Black Sorrows at 3pm. It all starts at 12noon.
 
Get Active
For everyone who enjoys sports and being active, on Saturday, there is the Melton Waves Fun Run at 7.30am at Hannah Watts Park, the Come and Try Sports Day between 1pm and 4pm at Nixon Street and the Skate Comp between 1pm and 5.30pm at the Melton Skate Park.
 
Parade
The Festival will feature the all time favourite the Street Parade along High Street, showcasing many of the Shire’s community groups, schools and businesses, on Saturday 7 November at 11am.
 
Market and Lifestyle Expo
On Saturday, visitors can browse around the market stalls in the Civic Centre car park between 11am and 5pm, visit the Lifestyle Expo in the Melton Community Hall between 12 and 5pm and see what programs and services Council has on offer in their community stalls.
 
Other activities
Don’t forget to visit the Environmental Hub in High Street on Saturday and the Lions Club Carnival in the Police Paddock is open on both days from 10am.

Other activities that you can’t miss on the Saturday are the Schools Art Exhibition at Mac’s Cottage at the Willows, a Giant Garage Sale at McKenzie Street between 8.30am and 4pm and the Model Railway Display at the Mechanics Institute Hall, High Street between 10am and 4pm.

Be aware there are several road closures around High Street during the day.
