News>Mayor meets with Premier
| MEDIA RELEASE - 21 October 2009 | | The Mayor and Chief Executive of Melton Shire Council met with Premier John Brumby and the Minister for Local Government, Richard Wynne, on Tuesday 20 October 2009 in Melbourne.
They raised with the Premier those issues that are significant for Councils on the edge of suburban Melbourne.
Melton Shire Council Mayor, Cr Renata Cugliari, said the discussion was extensive and productive.
“The most important issue discussed with the Premier was the ability for this Council to manage its growth, the creation of local jobs, the issues of improved public transport and services for our youth,” she said.
“We also discussed the issue of the rural areas in our municipality and their need to be part of the overall planning for this area,” the Mayor said.
“Melton Shire Council continues to advocate at the highest level of both State and Federal Government for the benefit of our municipality and we were encouraged by the reception received.” | |
