Two new services for Melton Residents will open today at the Melton Recycling Centre:
The Detox Your Home Centre will accept: paint, flourescent tubes and globes, barbeque gas cylinders and household and car batteries for recycling.
The Re-Sale Centre will accept used items such as: furniture, electrical equipment, plumbing fixtures, building products, toys, books , records, clothing, garden furniture, kitchen ware, crockery and toys. These items will be sold in the re-sale centre.
To attend the event you must RSVP. Refreshments will be provided.
The Centre's hours after the opening will be: Monday to Friday: 8am - 4pm Weekends and Public Holidays: 9am - 4pm

Family Fishing Expo & Lions Club Mobility Picnic

A FREE day for the community, organised by Melton Shire Council, the Didyoubringyourrodalong Angling Club and Melton Lions Club.
About the Family Fishing Expo: Registered participants must be 16 years and under, however everyone is welcome to come and enjoy a day of fishing and family entertainment. Participants who register will receive a free sausage sizzle and Fishing Expo showbag (limited showbags available).
About the Lions Club Mobility Picnic: The Lions Club of Melton is hosting 'Walk for an Aussie Kid'.
Walkers will complete 1,2,3,4, or 5 circuits of the 1 kilometre walking track, which circumnavigates Navan Park.
All proceeds go to the Australian Lions Children's Mobility Foundation.
Musical entertainment will be provided by CC ROCK and free face painting and jumping castle will be onsite.

"Water Week Idol" is a competition and event to celebrate National Water Week 2008.
It is a joint initiative of Melbourne Water (through Werribee Plains Waterwatch), City West Water and Western Water.
All schools in the service areas of these organisations were invited to participate.
Participants will be judged on songs they have composed about water conservation, water supply, sewage treatment, the water cycle and/or waterways health.
The work of regional entrants in the National Water Week Poster Competition will be displayed at this event.
