Melton City Council has environmental education programs available to students across the City. The waste elements focus on the key actions of avoiding and reducing waste, reusing and recycling materials and products. An educational partnership with Visy also exists, providing the potential for students to learn first-hand about what happens to household waste once it leaves the kerb.

Educational tour of the Melton Recycling Facility (MRF)
Teachers and students are encouraged to visit the Melton Recycling Facility to see how it works. The Melton Recycling Facility is the place to responsibly dispose of recyclable materials and landfill waste within the City of Melton. It replaces that known previously as the ‘tip’, or ‘dump’, being is a far more environmentally aware facility. Visits by groups include a supervised viewing of the whole recycling facility and a tour of the Re-Sale Centre also on site.
Tours are free of charge and are accompanied by the Waste Educator or Coordinator. Please note that transport to and from the facility in Ferris Rd, Melton, is generally the responsibility of the participating school.
To discuss booking a tour, please contact the Waste Educator on 9747 7200 or email csu@melton.vic.gov.au.
