Keep Australia Beautiful - Sustainable Cities Awards

The Keep Australia Beautiful awards are open to local government, utilities, businesses, community groups and individuals. Each year Melton City Council nominates a range of programs and activities for entry.

  • June 2011 - Dingo Discovery and Research Centre (Toolern Vale) won the Protection of the Environment Award
  • October 2010 - Melton Shire Council, Western Water and Melton Sustainable Living Group won the National Keep Australia Beautiful Energy Efficiency Award
  • June 2010 - Melton Shire Council won the Victorian Sustainable City Award 2010
  • Community Action-finalist- Melton South Christmas for the Kids Community Event

  • Community Government Partnerships-finalist-The Melton Botanic Garden (Friends of the Melton Botanic Garden)
  • Water Conservation-finalist-Making (Melton) Waves in Water Conservation (Melton Shire Council)
  • Efficient Energy-finalist-A Business Case for a Solar Development in Melton (Melton Shire Council)
  • Young Leaders-finalist-The Children's Eternal Wildflower Grasslands (Coburns and Melton South Primary)
  • Dame Phyllis Frost Award-winner-Daryl Akers (Melton Environment Group)
  • 2008 - Dame Phyllis Frost Award - Local resident Lyn Holdsworth from Friends of Toolern Creek won the Dame Phyllis Frost Award for her outstanding individual contribution to the environment and the community.
  • Victorian Community Pride Award - Caroline Springs Community Hub
  • Victorian Biodiversity and Conservation Award - Mt Cottrell (Judges' Commendation)
  • 2007- National Sustainable City Award for Victoria and Australia
