The Municipality is serviced by the Calder Freeway, the Western Freeway, the Melton Highway, the Western Highway and the Melton and Sydenham railway lines. Future transport plans include a train station for Caroline Springs, improved railway lines in the western region and the Outer Metropolitan Ring Transport Corridor.

Fast-growing population and workforce

The City of Melton has a young, growing population, with 80% of the population aged under 50 years old. This ensures businesses can be assured of their staff supply for many years to come.

Currently, the City of Melton has a population of approximately 122,000, with 41 babies being born into the municipality every week. By 2016, it is expected that the City of Melton will have a population of 132,000.
