Transport Connections is about communities working together to improve local transport. Through local partnerships and the use of existing assets and services such as taxis, school buses, community buses and volunteers, communities are able to develop innovative approaches that can make participation in community life easier for people with limited access to transport.
‘On the Move’ public transport information stands
The provision of ‘On the Move’ stands in community facilities throughout the City of Melton is a ‘Connecting Communities’ Transport Connections Project. The stands include information on local bus and train timetables, ticketing and fares, services available and general information needed when accessing public transport in the City of Melton.

Public transport services
Two VLine train lines (Ballarat line and Bendigo line train services) run through the City of Melton.
Ballarat Line service
Connecting Ballarat to Melbourne (Southern Cross Station) via Melton Township and Rockbank.
The Ballarat Line service runs 7 days a week, stopping at Melton on majority of trips. Stops at Rockbank station are limited.
Bendigo Line service
Connecting Bendigo to Melbourne (Southern Cross Station) via Diggers Rest.
The Bendigo Line service runs 7 days a week. Stops at Diggers Rest station are limited.
*In 2012, services to and from Diggers Rest Station were upgraded as part of the Sunbury Electrification project. New metropolitan services also operate from this station, linking Sunbury to Watergardens and beyond.
Bus services link all areas of the Melton Township including Melton South, Melton West, Brookfield, Kurunjang and Melton CBD. A bus route (456) also links Melton Township Corridor, via Rockbank with Caroline Springs and surrounds. Bus routes also link residents to other suburbs such as St Albans, Taylors Lakes and Sunshine. There are also two Nightrider services operating in City of Melton (Melton, Rockbank and Diggers Rest) operating between 1.30am – 4.30am on Saturdays and 1.30am – 5.30am on Sundays.

Travellers Aid centres offer support services and transport information for passengers, particularly those with special needs. Services vary at each centre.

The Companion Card is issued to people who require the assistance of a companion. It provides free travel for the carer/companion of the cardholder on all public transport services.

Multi Purpose Taxi Program
The Multi Purpose Taxi Program, or MPTP, is a Victorian Government program that offers its members a 50 per cent subsidy on taxi fares of up to $60 per trip.
To be eligible for the MPTP you must permanently live in Victoria, be older than two years and have a severe and permanent disability that prevents you from independently accessing public transport.
