Welcome
Melton Shire is booming. It was recently recognized as Australia fastest growing municipality and is one of the fastest growing urban areas in Melbourne’s Western Region.

Melton Shire offers the best in urban and rural lifestyles covering an area of approximately 530 square kilometres. The Shire is at the hub of a region bordered by Werribee and Geelong in the south, Bacchus Marsh, Sunbury to Melbourne Airport and over to the Hume Highway in the east. Melbourne lies approximately 35 kilometres to the southeast.

The Shire embraces the communities of Burnside, Caroline Springs, Diggers Rest, Exford, Hillside, Melton, Rockbank, Taylors Hill and Toolern Vale. Melton is the shopping and commercial centre of the district with two distinctive commercial hubs at High Street and Woodgrove Shopping Centre. Caroline Springs is also targeted as an emerging commercial centre in Melton’s East. A new shopping centre has also recently been established at Burnside.

Today, Melton Shire Council works for the well being of the whole community and provides an extensive network of services and resources designed and managed to offer benefits and lifestyle choices for all residents. Importantly, Council continually strives to create an environment that will attract business and clean industries to the area, providing the jobs that bring prosperity and choice to the broader community. Melton Shire Council itself provides over 450 jobs throughout the Shire.

As a Government body, Melton Shire Council can also facilitate negotiations with State and Federal Government Departments on Australian statutory requirements. Melton has an established reputation for fast-tracking development approvals for new businesses in the Shire.

By leading and serving the community, Melton Shire Council is committed to addressing the challenges ahead while meeting the needs of today. In working together, we will continue to make the Melton Shire an enjoyable and secure place to live, work and play. Clearly Melton is an investment opportunity too good to be missed. We're excited about Melton's future, and Invite you to be a part of it.
