Cr Bob Turner elected new City of Melton Mayor

Councillor Bob Turner was elected City of Melton Mayor for 2017/18 at a Special Council meeting on Thursday 2 November.

Cr Ken Hardy was elected Deputy Mayor.

Cr Turner and Cr Hardy will work to lead Councillors, and represent the City at community events, while advocating on their behalf.

Cr Turner said it was an exciting time to be Mayor.

“I’m really looking forward to tackling the challenges ahead, and will continue to advocate on behalf of our residents to ensure the City continues to prosper and grow,” Cr Turner said.

“The next 12 months will be an exciting challenge that I look forward to with great enthusiasm.

“In leading this Council, I look forward to pooling our strengths and working together as a team to serve the best interests of our community.

“I am determined to lead Council in achieving the aspirations of the community.”

Cr Turner also acknowledged outgoing Mayor, Cr Sophie Ramsey, for her service and leadership over the past 12 months.

Bob was first elected to Council in 2008 and re-elected in 2012 and 2016. He served as Deputy Mayor in 2012/2013 and 2016/2017, and as Mayor in 2013/2014.
