Cr Sophie Ramsey moved to Melton over 25 years ago and is the daughter of Greek immigrants. She is the mother of three beautiful daughters, all born and raised in Melton.

Cr Ramsey’s has long been active in our community, having served as the President of the Brookfield Kindergarten for six years; the Vice President of the Rusden Early Intervention Centre and as an active member of the Melton Adventure Playground Group that successfully raised $160K to install play equipment at Navan Park.

First elected to Council in October 2001, Cr Ramsey feels humbled and honoured to be the longest serving Councillor in the City of Melton, having been elected on four separate occasions. In addition to her current term, Cr Ramsey served as Mayor in 2002/2003, 2004/2005 and 2014/2015. She also served as Deputy Mayor in 2013/2014.

Cr Ramsey believes that Melton’s greatest asset is its community. She fully understands the concerns that are close to its heart and places value on delivering quality Council services to residents. Cr Ramsey strives to be a strong voice for the whole community, so that even the most vulnerable and isolated voice can be heard.

Cr Ramsey is passionate about Melton and strives to foster strong partnerships between Council, business and the community for continued, sustainable growth, while advocating for vital health and family services, more local jobs, and upgrades to local roads and highways.
