I have seen the Melton community change dramatically in the 25 years that I have called the municipality home. I will work hard to keep rates in check, and advocate strongly for increased infrastructure delivery in keeping with our booming growth. As a first time Councillor I hope to inject a fresh approach into Council. I want to see better communication between Council and the community and transparency on all levels. I look forward to an open dialogue with the community; I am here to represent both rural and urban residents and welcome your ideas and feedback at any time.

I am proud to be the first Mayor elected for the newly designated City of Melton and would like to thank residents for putting faith in me to serve them over the next four years. I intend to lead by example and serve with integrity so this Council can achieve the best outcomes for the whole community. This Council will be innovative, thinking outside the box to deliver quality infrastructure and finding solutions. My priorities will be to unite my fellow Councillors to work as a cohesive team, advocate for an aquatic study for the whole municipality, focus on children’s services, youth, aged and disability services, better traffic management, better public transport including train stations at Toolern and Caroline Springs, and a 24-hour police station in the Eastern Corridor.

I am grateful to the people of Coburn Ward for allowing me to continue as a Councillor for another term. I am proud of what I have achieved so far for our community and I look forward to the completion of major projects such as the duplication of Centenary Avenue and the Melton Library and Learning Hub. As a lifelong resident and a local teacher, I have seen Melton develop into the vibrant city it is today. I will continue to advocate for a 24-hour public hospital for Melton, to ensure our community has the health services it deserves. I will also endeavour to have rates capped at CPI, so there are no more increases over the next four years.

I believe that Melton’s greatest asset is its community. As a Councillor since 2001, a mother and a resident of 25 years, I understand the concerns that are close to the heart of our community. I also understand the value of quality Council services and throughout this term I will continue to be your strong voice on Council and will work tirelessly on your behalf. I am passionate about Melton and will continue to foster the strong partnerships between Council, business and the community for continued, sustainable growth. I will continue to advocate for vital health and family services, more local jobs, and upgrades to local roads and highways.

I would like to express my appreciation at being returned as a Councillor at such an exciting time in the history of the City of Melton and I would like to thank my fellow Councillors for entrusting me with the position of Deputy Mayor. My wife and I have lived in Melton for the past 23 years and have raised our family in the community. As Deputy Mayor, I am committed to improving health services, including the number of GPs and reducing surgery waiting periods. I will also continue to advocate for transport improvements, both road and rail, and education, particularly in the areas of apprenticeships and adult training facilities.

I take this opportunity to thank all residents in Watts Ward, who have shown faith in my capacity and commitment to be their voice on Melton City Council. I believe that local government is about community. It’s about caring and it is about connecting, listening and helping regardless of mainstream politics. My main priority is standing up for families in our community. To do this I will work to ensure you have access to the facilities and resources that you deserve as ratepayers. I will work hard to deliver sustainable growth, adequate parking and the necessary infrastructure to meet our community’s needs.

As a long time resident in the area, I am enthusiastic and care deeply for my community and its residents. A teacher for 20 years and a mother of two young children, I understand the issues that are important to our community and will strive to get the best results. Now that I have been re-elected for another four year term I will continue to advocate for educational services, community facilities and better roads and footpaths.
